WHAT IS EL BOHIO?
El Bohio Dominicano was born out of love for our country. This love of country
has inspired us to develop this project so that our
friends and compatriots may enjoy the beauty of our land and its people.
This presentation is a continuing series of photographs depicting the
landscape, culture and folklore of the Dominican Republic. Our aim is
to present a balanced view of our country and to create the largest on
line photo collection of Dominican culture, exclusively shot for El Bohio
Dominicano. At the same time, we hope that these images will help to raise
awareness on the importance of protecting and preserving the environment
and natural resources, for this is our greatest treasure.
ABOUT US
Otto and Daniel Piron -- father and son -- have teamed up to
present this page to you. Otto has been a photographer for over
25 years and a graduate of Baruch College, of the City University of New
York (CUNY). Daniel is a graduate of Queens College, CUNY with a degree in Computer Science,
and is the resident web developer for El Bohio Dominicano. Otto and Daniel currently reside in the city
of New York, and travel to Dominican Republic regularly and extensively
to continue this on-going series of photographs.
As the son of a Methodist minister in the Dominican Republic, Otto
Piron had the opportunity to travel to and live in many Dominican cities,
towns and villages, thus acquiring a vast and rich knowledge of
this wonderful country and its people. And, based on this experience,
El Bohio Dominicano projects a vision of diversity with a wide range
of images representing the full scope of what has become known
as "El Dominicanismo"
Please enjoy our presentation.
