Patria Mercedes Mirabal Reyes, shown here with her father, Don Enrique Mirabal Fernández. Patria was the oldest of the Mirabal sisters; she was born on February 27, 1924. She was murdered together with her sisters, Minerva and Maria Teresa on November 25, 1960. They lost their lives opposing the brutal Trujillo regime.
