The Mirabal Sisters - Maria Teresa, Minerva, and Patria Mirabal: Dominican heroines assassinated by Trujillo for their opposition to his regime. The Mirabal Sisters are a shining example of the character and spirit of Dominican women. Their death on November 25, 1960, marked the beginning of the end for the Trujillo regime which, for more than 30 years, terrorized the Dominican people.
